Uber recently announced a promotion where American Express cardholders can get two free Uber rides from select airports through December 31, 2016. Just enter promo code AMEXAIRPORT in the Uber app before requesting your ride. If you’re already an Amex cardholder, this is a pretty great deal with a few noteworthy catches:
- The promotion is only valid on rides from the airport, not to the airport.
- The promotion is only valid at 11 airports: all three major New York City area airports are covered (LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark), as are both Chicago airports (O’Hare and Midway) and both DC airports (Reagan and Dulles). Rounding out the list are Seattle, Las Vegas, Houston-Bush, and Boston.
- The promotion only covers the first $65 of the fares.
- The promotion is limited to 2 free rides per Uber account (meaning no option to rotate multiple Amex cards and multiply savings).
But other than that, it’s pretty straightforward! If American Express isn’t your go-to credit card for travel expenses (e.g., if you use the Chase Sapphire Reserve, or other credit card with higher travel earning), this deal is still absolutely worth it, just be sure to delete the Amex from your Uber profile afterwards.
