Welcome to Your Two Cents!

Life is filled with complex financial decisions. Who should I refinance my student loans with? Which credit card should I get? What’s the best debt repayment strategy? At Y2C, we spend a lot of time thinking about how to get the most for our money. Some might even say we’re obsessed. Sometimes it’s as simple as how can you pay the least amount for the same product. Other situations require a more detailed analysis of the comparative cost trade-offs to really assess the value. That’s ultimately what Your Two Cents is about: getting the best value.

There’s rarely a one-size-fits-all answer. City vs. country. Married with children vs. bachelor(ette) pad. Changing planes  vs. paying more to fly nonstop. On any given day, all of us have different preferences. The goal of Y2C isn’t to tell you what to do. It’s to provide our readers with a math-based, common-sense approach to financial decisions, considering all the options and laying out the pros and cons. By providing you with this framework, we hope that you can plug in your own numbers and overlay your own personal values to see what makes the most sense for you.  We believe that the complex crazy world of numbers and financial metrics is knowable and understandable, even if you instinctively cringe at the thought of math.

At all times, Y2C will strive to live by its ethos and guiding principles in providing, not necessarily the single right answer, but the right way to think about getting to your best answer. Over time, we believe that difference between making the best and second best (or worse!) decision adds up. We’re all about helping that add up for our readers, even if it’s only two cents at a time.

Over the next few weeks we’re going to be making a lot of changes to the site, tweaking its appearance and formatting to best organize and reflect our content. We hope you’ll stick around, subscribe, and let us know what topic you’d like to see covered. Anyway, that’s just my two cents- leave yours below or surf over to the About Us page and let us know what you think!
